These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the Sentry Studio project's free apps and services, including the website (sentry-six.com), the desktop application, the Sentry USB device, the Sentry Connect iOS app, Sentry Drive, the clip sharing service (clip.sentry-six.com), the notification service (notifications.sentry-six.com), and the support API (api.sentry-six.com), collectively referred to as the "Service."

Sentry Cloud (our paid cloud sync service at sentryusb.com) is operated separately and is not covered by these Terms. It is governed by its own Terms of Service and Privacy Policy at sentryusb.com/legal.

Sentry Studio is a free, open-source project maintained by Jhoan Romero and Scott Vandereems. By accessing or using any part of the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, you will be unable to proceed with utilizing the Service.

1. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years of age to use the Service. By using the Service, you represent and warrant that you meet this age requirement.

2. Description of Service

Sentry Studio provides:

Desktop Application — A free, open-source Tesla dashcam viewer for Windows and macOS that plays, syncs, and exports TeslaCam footage locally on your machine.
Sentry USB Device — A source-available Raspberry Pi-based smart USB drive that records Tesla dashcam footage, auto-archives clips, and provides a local web interface for viewing and managing recordings.
Sentry Connect iOS App — A free companion iOS app that connects to your Sentry USB device over your local network or Bluetooth to view cameras, browse files, manage recordings, and receive push notifications.
Sentry Drive — A free, open-source desktop app for Windows and macOS that visualizes and analyzes your drive history locally from TeslaCam SEI telemetry, with optional third-party integrations (OSRM route reconstruction, Tessie import).
Notification Service — A push notification relay that delivers alerts from your Sentry USB device to the iOS app via notifications.sentry-six.com.
Clip Sharing — A service that allows you to upload exported video clips and generate shareable links hosted at clip.sentry-six.com.
Support System — An in-app support chat for communicating with the developer, and a diagnostics upload system for troubleshooting.
Update System — An automated update check system with mandatory security and compatibility reporting.
Website — An informational site about the project at sentry-six.com.

The Service is provided free of charge. We make no guarantees about uptime, availability, or continued development.

3. Access & Restrictions

We reserve the right to restrict, suspend, or deny your access to any part of the Service, at any time, for any reason, with or without notice or explanation. This includes but is not limited to:

Temporary rate-limiting lockouts
Permanent IP address bans
Removal of shared content
Blocking access to the API, support system, or clip sharing service

Access to the Service, including automated updates and support, requires the transmission of basic technical data (as defined in the Privacy Policy) to prevent unauthorized API use and ensure version stability.

If you believe your access was restricted in error, you may appeal through our Discord server.

4. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

Upload illegal, harmful, abusive, or obscene content through the clip sharing service
Upload content that infringes on the rights of others
Upload malware, viruses, or any malicious files
Upload child sexual abuse material (CSAM) — this will result in an immediate permanent ban and may be reported to law enforcement
Attempt to circumvent rate limits, IP bans, or other security measures
Abuse the support chat system (spam, harassment, or flooding)
Attempt to circumvent, reverse-engineer, exploit, or attack the API or servers
Attempt to reverse-engineer, exploit, or tamper with the Sentry USB device firmware or BLE services
Use the notification pairing system to send unsolicited or abusive push notifications
Use automated tools to scrape, download, or interact with the Service at scale
Impersonate the developer or project in any way

5. Clip Sharing

Upload Rules

Only MP4 video files are accepted
Maximum file size: 1.5 GB per upload
Maximum upload rate: 5 uploads per hour per IP address
Total server storage is capped — uploads may be rejected if capacity is reached

Expiration & Deletion

Shared clips are automatically deleted after a user-selected duration (up to 7 days)
You may delete your clip at any time using the delete token provided at upload
We may delete any clip at any time, for any reason, without notice

Public Access

Shared clips are publicly accessible to anyone with the link. There is no password protection or access control. You are solely responsible for the content you upload and share. Do not upload clips containing sensitive, private, or personally identifiable information unless you are comfortable with it being publicly viewable.

Content Ownership

You retain full ownership of any content you upload. By uploading a clip, you grant us a limited, temporary license to host, store, serve, and generate thumbnails of your content for the sole purpose of providing the clip sharing service. This license terminates when the clip is deleted.

6. Intellectual Property

Licensing — The Sentry Studio desktop application and Sentry Drive are open-source software released under the MIT License; you are free to use, modify, and distribute them in accordance with that license. The Sentry USB device software is source-available under the PolyForm Noncommercial License 1.0.0 — free to use, modify, and share for any noncommercial purpose, with commercial use requiring a separate license; some bundled components remain under the MIT License (see the project's NOTICE file). Source code is available on GitHub for Sentry Studio, Sentry USB, and Sentry Drive. The Sentry Connect iOS app is distributed via the Apple App Store and is not open source.
Branding — The "Sentry Studio" name, logo, and branding are property of the project. You may not use them in a way that implies official endorsement without permission.
Your Content — You retain all rights to your dashcam footage and any clips you upload. We claim no ownership over your content.

7. Third-Party Disclaimer

Sentry Studio is an independent, community-driven project. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to Tesla, Inc. in any way. "Tesla", "TeslaCam", and "Sentry Mode" are trademarks of Tesla, Inc.

The Service may link to third-party websites and services (GitHub, Discord, etc.). We are not responsible for the content, policies, or practices of any third-party sites.

8. Disclaimer of Warranties

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS, IMPLIED, OR STATUTORY. WE DISCLAIM ALL WARRANTIES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO:

MERCHANTABILITY or FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE
Uninterrupted, secure, or error-free operation
Accuracy or reliability of any content or data
That the Service will meet your requirements
That defects will be corrected

You use the Service at your own risk.

9. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO:

Loss of data or footage
Service interruptions or downtime
Unauthorized access to or alteration of your data
Any damages resulting from your use of or inability to use the Service

This limitation applies regardless of the legal theory (contract, tort, or otherwise) and even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages. Since the Service is provided free of charge, our total liability for any claim shall not exceed $0 USD.

10. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless the Sentry Studio project and its maintainer from any claims, damages, losses, or expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your use of the Service, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of any rights of another party.

11. Termination

We may terminate or suspend your access to the Service at any time, for any reason, without prior notice. You may stop using the Service at any time by simply ceasing to use it and uninstalling the application.

Upon termination, any shared clips you have uploaded may be deleted. Sections of these Terms that by their nature should survive termination (including Disclaimers, Limitation of Liability, and Indemnification) will remain in effect.

12. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date. Your continued use of the Service after any changes constitutes acceptance of the new Terms.

13. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Maryland, United States, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. (Sentry Cloud is operated by a separate entity under its own Terms and governing law — see sentryusb.com/legal.)

14. Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable or invalid, that provision will be limited or eliminated to the minimum extent necessary, and the remaining provisions will remain in full force and effect.
